Since 2011, Italy has been supporting the Government of the Union of the Republic of Myanmar (GoM) in its efforts to safeguard and protect the rich Cultural Heritage of this Country. Main partner in these activities is the Union Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.<\/p>\n
Within the framework of the Project \u201cSupport to the Social and Economic Development of Rakhine State through the Safeguard, Management and Valorisation of the Mrauk U Site\u201d \u2013 AID 11292.02.4, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation – Yangon Office (hereinafter referred to as AICSY) intends to continue contributing to the safeguarding of the cultural patrimony of Myanmar by sustaining the protection and valorisation of Mrauk U monumental site.<\/p>\n
The Project AID 11292.02.4 is aimed (i) at providing Technical Assistance to the local Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library (DOA) (ii) at engaging Mrauk U Civil Society as active and pro-active stakeholder in the protection and valorisation actions, and (iii) at effectively sustaining the socio-economic development of Mrauk U Civil Society. Specific activities (including customized training) will be targeting and involving the Mrauk U Civil Society according to the two following components:<\/p>\n
COMPONENT 1 \u2013 Mrauk U Civil Society\u2019s engagement in cultural heritage protection and valorisation;<\/p>\n
COMPONENT 2 \u2013 Civil Society\u2019s capacities towards socio-economic development (focus on tangible\/intangible heritage, creative industries, heritage tourism etc.).<\/p>\n
