Do I need a visa?
Please use the website Il visto per l’Italia to check, based on your situation, whether you need a visa and if so, what type.
Where do I submit my visa application?
– Applications must be submitted at the Embassy/Consulate of the country that you intend to visit or, if you intend to visit more than one Schengen State, the Embassy/Consulate of the country of your primary destination (i.e. main purpose of stay or longest stay). If you intend to visit several Schengen States and the stays will be of equal length, you must apply at the Embassy/Consulate of the country whose external borders you will cross first when entering the Schengen area.
– As a general rule, you must apply for a visa at the Embassy/Consulate with territorial competence for the country of your nationality or in which you legally reside.
How do I make an appointment?
Appointments to submit visa applications must be booked using the Embassy’s online system. The service is available in Italian and English, and it is active on the page https://prenotami.esteri.it.
Users must confirm their reservations from 10 to 3 days before the date of the appointment. In the absence of confirmation, the system will automatically cancel the appointment. To confirm the appointment, you need to access your personal account, then click on “my appointments”, enter the “booking code” and finally click “confirm”. It is not possible to confirm the appointment by email or telephone.
The Visa Office will only reply to emails containing urgent requests regarding visas for family, study, work (including seamen) and business reasons.
The Prenot@Mi reservation system is entirely free. No payment of any kind is required to get an appointment. We warn all users against anyone who claims to be able to arrange appointments in a shorter time by receiving a sum of money and we recommend not paying for any service of this type. The Embassy of Italy in Yangon completely and unequivocally dissociates itself from any website, agency or person that may have or is still carrying out such activity and reserves every right to take all necessary action in this regard.
How long before the start of the intended visit should I apply for a visa?
– When choosing the date of the appointment, users must take into consideration the necessary duration for processing the visa application. For Schengen visa, the processing time of an application is up to 15 days, which may be extended as provided for by Art. 23 of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code). The processing time is longer for Italian national visa applications: for further information, please contact visti.yangon@esteri.it. Therefore, the appointment must be scheduled for a date at least 15 days prior to the estimated departure date, in order to leave enough time for the Embassy to process the visa application; no guarantees can be given on the visa application’s return date as delays may occur. Applicants are advised to submit their visa application well in advance, to avoid any inconveniences.
– Applications can be lodged no more than 6 months before the start of the intended trip.
Which documents do I need to provide when submitting my visa application?
– Here you can find information regarding the type of visa you may apply and the relevant documents.
– Please note that photos must not be digitally edited, enhanced or altered to change you appearance in any way.
