On February 21, 2020 the Italian Embassy organized the concert of the young pianist and composer Corrado Neri, who was accompanied by the singer Federica Contarino.
Neri – who had already come to Myanmar in March 2019 as part of a tour organized by the Ibla Grand Prize Foundation – has received the public’s appreciation with a repertoire focused on a tribute to Domenico Modugno, but which also included original jazz arrangements of music by Bach, Gershwin and Dalla. Neri also performed some pieces composed by himself, establishing a deep empathy with the audience. With this initiative, the Italian Embassy in Yangon intended to differentiate the calendar of its cultural events even more than in the past, hitherto reserved – on the music front – for the most part to the classical one and secondly to jazz, in order to extend the knowledge of the Burmese public also to the Italian “pop” production.
