Also on behalf of the EU, the Italian Embassy has curated the celebrations of the International Women’s Day in Nay Pyi Taw. In collaboration with the JPF and the EU, the Ambassador of Italy has contributed to launch a Women’s Forum – which includes ladies from all ethnicities – to advance and support peace in Myanmar.
The Embassy of Italy has chosen music to celebrate the International Women’s Day 2019 in Nay Pyi Taw, inviting the talented musicians of Quartetto Viotti – Stefano Parrino (flute), Francesco Parrino (violin), Luca Ranieri (viola) e Maria Cecilia Berioli (cello) – to perform some extraordinary music pieces for a highly distinguished audience. The Concert was attended by over 350 people, including three Union Ministers (International Cooperation, Social Welfare, and Education), the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Union Government, 40 Members of the Union Parliament, many Diplomats and representatives of international and non governmental organizations.
In her speech, Ambassador Schiavo payed a tribute to the many women who have given an essential contribution to the progress of their communities and of mankind, to those who have fought successfully to exercise and enhance their rights, and to those who are still nowadays forced to deal with shocking inequality on a daily basis and unacceptable violence.
