The virtual assistant of the Embassy’s website is now active

Chatbot

As of today, the Embassy’s website is enhanced with a new assistance tool. The virtual assistant (“chatbot”) of our website is now active. By simulating a chat conversation, this programme can guide users towards the information they need through a pre-established path of questions and answers. The “chatbot” will be able to answer a wide range of questions, in particular those regarding consular and visa services.

The application was presented on 8 February in Rome by the Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Riccardo Guariglia. It was activated on the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and 20 Italian diplomatic-consular offices, including the Italian Embassy in Yangon.

“The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not only deal with foreign policy in the strict sense. We provide a wide range of services to users both at the Farnesina and in over 200 Italian diplomatic-consular offices around the world” said Amb. Guariglia, who personally tested the application and recalled that “MAECI is among the very first Italian administrations to be equipped with such a tool, demonstrating the great attention paid to digital innovation and the quality of services rendered to users”.

The Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Alessandro De Pedys, and the Director General for Italian Citizens Abroad and Migration Policies, Luigi Maria Vignali, who were both present at the event, underlined the importance of this tool in order to improve the quality of service offered to users and the Farnesina’s commitment to digital innovation.
